VOCATIONAL SPECIALIST CONTRACT POSITION

(Nassau County)

Next Step Solutions NY LLC is located in Nassau County, NY. We are designed to help neurodiverse individuals, and their families navigate the college application process, identify career and post-secondary options, & provide vocational training prior to entering the workforce. We individualize all of our services to best meet the needs of the individuals supported.

We are currently looking to add an additional Vocational Sepcialist in Nassau County, providing ACCES-VR services to individuals and school districts. Services provided will include Job Readiness, Self-advocacy for Employment, Career Exploration and additional Pre-Employment Training Services. This is a contractor position; hours and rates are negotiable. This position will start fully remote, but may require in-person services in the future.

Responsibilities: 

• Responsible for conducting 1-on-1 meetings with individuals referred by ACCES-VR,  ensuring a person-centered approach to all services

• Run group pre-employment transition services for various school districts in Suffolk County at local High Schools

• Teach soft skills, self-advocacy skills and appropriate workplace behaviors to clients supported

• Provide post-secondary transition assistance by identify careers and programs that would be a best fit for the client

• Complete daily case notes and monthly summary notes

• Teach a variety of topics including but not limited to: understanding what it means to be an employee, how to network, resume development, how to job search, social media, conflict resolution, time management, stress management and goal setting/motivation

• Maintain communication with all individuals, families and school districts for cases assigned

• Report and maintain communication with the management team, providing updates and progress as required

• Ensure regulatory compliance with company policy and procedures, as well as ACCES-VR regulations

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Psychology, Human Resources, Business, Social Work or a related field, required

• Evening and/or Weekend availability required

• Minimum of 1-year experience working with neurodiverse populations preferred

• NYS Case Training is a plus

• Reliable transportation to and from client locations

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
